7 Days Great Migration Safari

The wildebeest migration is a breathtaking spectacle that should undoubtedly be on your bucket list for the safari of a lifetime. Each year, millions of wildebeest embark on an extraordinary journey, traversing the vast plains of the Maasai Mara in Kenya and the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. This awe-inspiring migration, driven by the search for fresh grazing grounds and water sources, typically occurs between June and October. During this time, you have the unique opportunity to witness nature’s drama unfold—herds of wildebeest galloping in unison, predators lurking in the shadows, and the thrilling challenges they face along the way. Experiencing this remarkable event is sure to leave you with unforgettable memories of the wild.

Day 1: Discover the tree-climbing lions at Lake Manyara

In the early morning, you will be picked up by a guide who will drive you from Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park, a great starting point for our Great Migration Safari. Enjoy a scenic drive, relishing the marvellous landscapes as we head to the park.

The main highlight of this park is spotting the tree-climbing lions, a spectacle to behold and among the few areas in Africa to spot them. Other highlights are exploring the lake and the many bird species that call this place home.

Enjoy the breathtaking tropical forests, lush vegetation and mahogany trees at the park.  Drive back to your designated lodge/camp for dinner and accommodation.

Day 2: Discover Huge Concentration of Wildlife at Northern Serengeti

You’ll have an early morning breakfast as we prepare for an epic drive to the world-renowned Serengeti.

The Serengeti is famous for its huge concentration of wildlife, the Great Migration that happens every year and its diverse bird population.

The expected arrival time is around mid-day. You’ll have an en-route game drive as you head to your camp for check-in, lunch and some refreshments.

You might opt to have a rest for the day or head back to the park for more wildlife adventures.

As the day unfolds, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the vast and breathtaking landscapes of the Serengeti. Keep your eyes peeled for an array of magnificent wildlife, including herds of wildebeests migrating across the golden plains, elegant zebras grazing peacefully, and swift gazelles darting through the tall grasses. The iconic lions may be spotted lounging in the shade, while colourful birds flit about, their songs adding to the symphony of nature.

As the sun begins to set, casting a warm glow over the savannah, you’ll return to the lodge, where a delicious dinner awaits, allowing you to reflect on the incredible experiences of the day.

After a delightful early morning breakfast, embark on your journey to Africa’s Eden: the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater. This magnificent caldera spans an impressive 264 square kilometres and plunges to a depth of 2,500 feet, ranking it among the largest calderas in the world.

As you travel, make a stop at Olduvai Gorge, often referred to as the “Cradle of Mankind.” This significant archaeological site, discovered by the renowned explorers Louis and Mary Leakey, offers a glimpse into our ancient past and reveals the rich history of human evolution.

Upon reaching the Ngorongoro Crater, you’ll proceed to your designated camp or lodge, where a delicious lunch awaits you amidst stunning views of the landscape.

In the afternoon, you have the option to immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of the Maasai by visiting a local village, or you may choose to unwind and relax at your lodge, soaking in the natural beauty that surrounds you.
