How to plan for a Mount Kilimanjaro Climbing Safari in Tanzania

Posted on July 20, 2020
No Comments

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is an affordable adventure on the highest mountain in Africa. You can choose from luxury expedition to a backpacking adventure depending on your budget and with this we shall give an experience of a lifetime . Below are some of the aspects while planning your hike to Mount Kilimanjaro.

1. Park entrance fee

Depending on which route you shall be using, there is a gate at the entrance of Mount Kilimanjaro national park, the park where you shall be doing your climbing experience. For example, if you decide to use the Machame route, there is the Machame gate where you shall be briefed and checked before proceeding with the climbing. Park entrance fee to almost any park is a must payment. Although you might not see your tour operator making the payments, a tour company is obliged to pay for your park entrance fees. And during the Mount climbing experience, you shall need additional help from the cook, porters, and other guides. All of those people have to pay the park entrance and it shall be the responsibility of the tour operator to pay for them.

2. Accommodation

Normally when you are going to a Mount Kilimanjaro Climbing tour, you shall come a day before the tour starts, and the tour operator is responsible for paying your accommodation from the start of the tour towards the end.  Some routes have tented housing facilities; it is the responsibility of the tour operator to pay for them.

3. Logistics

You may wonder why you need to pay for logistics, I mean you are going to be walking all the way up to the summit. Yes, it is true that you shall be walking until the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro but there is some bit of transportation involved-before you start the climbing, you shall be picked from either your hotel or airport to the park, and after climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, you shall be transferred to your hotel or the airport. That is how transportation becomes an important item to pay.

4. Porter, cooks, and mountain guide fees

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is a group work. Some people are involved whose ambitions are not really to reach the summit but rather to help you reach the summit. Porters are always important because they carry your entire important luggage and also help in pitching up tents and other facilities. Their role is always undeniable. You shall need the cooks to prepare all the nice dishes for you-the journey takes at least 6 days, how will you survive up the mountain without any food and where will you get the energy to climb? There are special guides who shall give you all the necessary tips along the way just to ensure that you reach the summit. All those people are part of the team that you climb with and they are paid.

There are other items like the cutlery, pulse oximeter, and others which shall be paid for during your Mount Kilimanjaro climbing experience. All those items contribute towards the final tour fee.

If you are looking for a guaranteed Mount Kilimanjaro climbing and an amazing Tanzania Safari experience.
