Top 5 exciting things to do on a Kenya Safari

Posted on September 15, 2016
No Comments

Kenya is one of the most beautiful safari destinations in Africa. If you’ve never toured the country, there is a lot you are missing out on. As those who have visited and they will tell you that one safari in Kenya is never enough. Why? Because there are dozens of exciting activities that you get to enjoy during your Kenya safari.

Below is a list of the top five activities.

  1. Game viewing

Kenya is home to many National Parks and Game reserves which are packed with thousands of animals and bird species. On your visit a driver/guide will take you on an unforgettable game drive/walk. It could be an early morning game drive, an afternoon game drive or even a full day game drive for which picnic lunch will be provided. Morning game drives are the best because most animals are up early to find food before the sun gets too hot. Evening game drives are exciting because you will also enjoy the beautiful horizons of the setting sun. Some of the parks and game reserves in Kenya are Maasai Mara National Reserve, Amboseli National Park, Samburu National Reserve, Lake Nakuru National Park and Aberdare National Park among others. Animals and bird species include elephants, lions, giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, warthogs, leopards, tigers, hawks, flamingos, vultures, ostrich and eagles among others.

  1. A visit to the lakes

Kenya is home to several lakes; both salty and fresh water lakes. Most of these lakes are situated on the floor of the Great Rift Valley. The Great Rift Valley is famous for having one of the most beautiful landscapes and back drops in the world. At these lakes you will enjoy activities like boat riding, fishing, bird watching and sunrise/sunset watching among others. There is nothing as beautiful as watching the sun set over a water body. Some of the lakes to visit are Lake Nakuru (here you will see thousands of flamingos), Lake Victoria, Lake Elementaita, Lake Naivasha, Lake Baringo and Lake Ol Bolossat.

  1. Mountain Climbing/Hiking

Mountain climbing and hiking are activities you will regret if you don’t do. They are thrilling and enjoyable. You will have the pleasure of seeing beautiful landscapes and vegetation as you make your way up. The best way to enjoy these activities is in groups which will make the activity less tiresome and is also a good way to meet new people who share similar interests. The best places for Mountain Climbing and hiking in Kenya are Mount Kenya, Mount Longonot and Hells’ Gate National Park

  1. Witness the wildebeest migration

The wildebeest migration is one of the activities that attract thousands of tourists each year. It is one of the wonders of the world. Millions of wildebeests cross over the crocodile-infested Mara River from Serengeti National Park in Tanzania into Kenya’s Maasai Mara National Reserve. This is a thrilling unforgettable experience that you do not want to miss.

  1. Beach safari

This is the best way to end your Kenya safari. Kenya is rated as one of the best beach safari destinations in Africa and the world. Kenyan beaches are located in Coastal Kenya where we have the Indian Ocean. Here you will also find beautiful beach hotels. Some of the activities you will enjoy on a beach safari include sky diving, jet skiing, swimming, boat riding, deep sea fishing, beach games, beach walks, beach dinners/breakfast among others. Kenyan beaches include Diani Beach, Nyali beach and Watamu beach among others.

Enjoy these and many more on your next Kenya Safari!
