Kenya Safari Game Drive

Kenya is a prime destination for African Safari. Tourists usually wonder what to expect on a typical Kenya safari. The country has diverse cultures and wildlife. Our itinerary includes at least two game drives. Here is what to expect on your Masai Mara trip.

What happens in a game drive on safari?

The thrilling excursion of game drives takes 2-3 hours, and the distance and length vary. Animals are active at the crack of dawn, evening, and at night. The Maasai guides will acquaint you with wilderness life. You will be drawn to the savannah beauty.

Time flies on sensational bouncing and bumping safari. Wear a hat to block the sun in the hot and dusty environment during the summer. Winter is chilly, and it’s best to dress accordingly. There are no bathrooms in the wilderness. You have to relieve yourself in the bush.

Carry a hand sanitizer. To conserve the wilderness, find a bag to store the used tissues and dispose of them on the camp. You can also visit the bathroom before hopping into the vehicle. Nature calls us all. Hence, get comfortable darting in the bush. Let your guide know if it’s an emergency.

There are safe guided stopovers that break with privacy. We have a professional team that has excellent driving skills. Chill out and have a good time. You can take photos as you observe the bush. Don’t be surprised if your trip heads over the off-road. There is a better view of several animals.

The safari experience entirely depends on the tourists’ taste. You can even book an exclusive intimate safari experience for your spouse or family by using a vehicle just for you. Typically the 4WD accommodates 8 passengers. The Masai Mara is rich with wildlife, and you stand a better chance of spotting the big five creatures. There is other wildlife that you can capture.

Rangers maintain contact via radio inform each other on sighting areas. They share bewildering tales with the visitors. You can also learn about the plants, habitats, animals’ trails, and birds. There are breaks at every game drive to allow tourists to freshen up. You can take a snack or enjoy a drink.

6:00 am: A Wake-up Call

Arise before the sunrise and catch the spectacular morning view. Kick start your day with a hot cup of tea or coffee. As the day unfolds, you can spot wildlife from your campsite. Early morning game drives are ideal since the temperature is cool.

The predators are actively hunting. You can capture the splendid view using your camera. It can be chilly in the morning, and you need to dress accordingly to keep warm for your game drive. Make sure that you can shed off the clothing quickly as it gets hotter in the afternoon.

6:30-7:30 am: Morning Game Drive

Your safari 4WD vehicle is waiting for you. The professional tour guides are friendly and embark on a trip in popular areas ideal for game viewing. Let the guide know of any particular interest.

Cherish every moment on your game drive as it offers an unforgettable experience. We suggest sticking around to exploring the environment and studying animal behaviors. It’s an experience you cannot afford to miss. Relax and enjoy your safari. The trip takes approximately 3 hours. Afterward, you can head back to your lodge or camp to rejuvenate.

9:00-10:00am: Breakfast

A divine mouthwatering breakfast awaits you. The memorable experience is presented in a communal setting. You can interact with other guests and share your sightings. It is also the right time to record the venture in your safari journal. This is a lifetime experience you won’t forget once you head back home. Hence, soak it all up.

10:00am-1:00pm: Free Time

You can rest or take a soothing massage. There are several activities that you can engage in at your camp. Tourists can visit local villages, take a walking safari, or touring the specialist sanctuary.

Experts guide Bushwalks, and you can check the fauna tracks as you learn about the flora. You might also be lucky to encounter the wildlife.

1:00pm: Lunch

Lunch is usually served under a canopy of trees or in a snug dining area. There is plenty of fresh, delicious meals and drinks. The hosts can set up several places for tourists to eat at. They can also adjust the lunchtime to suit guests’ preferences.

1:00pm to 4:00pm: Free Time

It is usually hot, and the harsh temperature is conducive to relaxation. Appreciate the scenery, take a nap, read a book, or cool off at the pool. Sprucing yourself up helps in the preparation of the busy day ahead. You can also take snacks before catching your next game drive.

4:00pm-7:00pm: Evening Game Drive

Your guide will pick you up again for an evening game drive. You can explore the wilderness as you admire the savannah. Birding is also perfect in the amusing terrains. The creatures are energetic after taking heed under the acacia trees and in caves.

The preys majestically come out from their hiding to quench their thirst and graze. The carnivorous yawn from their slumbers as they hunt. Spot animals that are nearby your lodge as you admire the surrounding area. Cross off your list of animals and avifauna that you might have missed out on in the morning.

At sunset, your tour guide hands you a sundowner, and you can toast to a successful safari. You may be lucky as some camps like Mara Serana prepare a special bush meal. In winter, we advise you to dress warmly as the temperature is cold in the evening.

Some camps spin your afternoon game drive to night drive. You can see the diurnal creatures on UV light. The vehicle head back to the campsite. Tourists can also gather around to warm their toes at the campfire as they chat about their trip.

8:00 pm: Dinner and Evening Drinks

A three-course dinner is set at the campsite. Enjoy a deserving cool drink as you head to rest. The night sky at the brim of your tent is perfect for visual viewing. The African sound serenades your nigh as the planets, stars, and satellites keep guard. Another busy day with the same schedule awaits you.
